Hello East Derry Families,
I hope this message finds you well. It is very exciting to begin a new school year at East Derry Elementary School! I am thrilled to share that this is my second round here, having been a classroom teacher for 16 years when the school opened in 1986. Some of my fondest memories occurred here, and I could not be more excited to be back.
The first four days have gone well, and I am pleased to report that the students transitioned from summer with ease. The learning has already begun, and I am looking forward to a wonderful year ahead.

Important Information:
~ The cafeteria will have ice cream for sale for $1.00 during lunches on Fridays.  This begins Friday, 9/6/24.
~The PTA is providing our families with a Movie Night this Friday, 9/6/24.  This evening of fun begins at 6:30 pm.
~Please consider joining us 9/9/24 for a PTA meeting. The meetings are held monthly in our school library, and they begin at 6:30 pm.
~Open House is 9/18/24.   This is a great opportunity for parents and guardians to come in and meet the teachers and hear a little about the grade level expectations.  There are two sessions.  Session 1 is 6-6:30 and Session 2 is 6:35 pm-7:00 pm. The teachers give the same information both times and this allows parents and guardians an opportunity to meet with two teachers if they have more than one child.  
~School photos are scheduled for 9/18/24.
~Our first Early Release Day for students is 9/25/24.  Dismissal will begin at 12:55.  
~Thank you all for your grace and patience as we iron out student drop off and pick up.  We have a record number of families driving their children to school in the morning.  Please be aware that buses will need to take a right at the first loop to access the front of the building so if the car loop is full, wait at the street corner until they move forward.
