WRB News, 10/3/25

October 3, 2025

Dear West Running Brook Families:

It was another great week at WRB! Today we had a school-wide assembly to recognize our students for their hard work. Our amazing PTSA also presented some exciting student-incentives for Monster Mile Fundraiser. We are hoping to reach our goals in support of our visiting artist project this year! See HERE for information regarding The Monster Mile.

Our Balloon Flight Club had a presentation from A & A Balloon Rides of Chester, NH. We thank them for bringing their equipment to demo for the kids.

C.A.R.E.S. Spotlight: Self Control

Our schoolwide C.A.R.E.S. program (Cooperation, Assertiveness, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control) is in full swing! This week’s focus was on Self Control. Students discussed it in Morning Meetings, and administrators reinforced the theme during house meetings. We work on demonstrating behavior aligned with classroom norms, identifying positive and negative thoughts that shape behaviors and interactions with others, exploring different ways to wait during daily routine activities, and holding interest with a task or activity that may seem unattainable. Thank you for discussing these strategies and expectations at home!

Please see below for important information!

Other Information:

Congratulations to the following classes for earning the Golden Bear!

Mr. McGowan’s Blue and Purple Writing Classes

Mr. McGowan’s Blue and Purple writing classes have done an excellent job showing self-control both in and outside of the classroom. Over the past two weeks, they worked extremely hard to create fantastic adventure narratives. While cooperating in small groups, they demonstrated kindness and empathy toward their classmates. Lastly, students have done a wonderful job being responsible for their belongings and keeping the classroom neat and organized. Keep up the amazing work!

Ms. Pittman’s Yellow Language Arts Class

Each day, the students in this class arrive prepared and ready to engage. During our “open floor” discussion, they demonstrate cooperation by respecting and building on one another’s ideas to analyze the novel Walk Two Moons. They ask thoughtful, meaningful questions, read aloud with enthusiasm, and support each other along the way. This class is hardworking, respectful, and consistently demonstrates CARES every time they step into the classroom.

Salvation Army Holiday Help

If you or your children could use some extra help with food, clothing, and toys for the holidays, please see HERE.

Along with the newsletter, which is sent out each Friday and posted on the website, we will use Morning Meeting Notices to keep everyone up to date on all the happenings here at WRB. As the year progresses, more clubs and activities will be occurring regularly. Morning Meeting Notices will be shared with all students each morning. They can also be found by families on OUR WEBSITE under the resources tab.

We hope you enjoy the weekend!
