Dear West Running Brook Families:
It’s been wonderful to see everyone settling into the flow of the new school year! Thank you for supporting your children as they adjust to routines and expectations.
Morning Meeting & Arrival
Just a reminder that school begins at 7:20 AM. Morning Meeting begins promptly at 7:30 AM in advisory. Doors open at 7:15 AM so students have time to visit lockers, grab breakfast if needed, and get settled. Please help us by ensuring your child arrives on time—starting the day together in Morning Meeting sets a positive tone for learning.
Recess & Weather Reminders
With fall here (and a little wet weather finally arriving!), please remember that we go outside for recess whenever possible. Make sure your child comes prepared with appropriate outerwear for the season.
C.A.R.E.S. Spotlight: Empathy
Our schoolwide C.A.R.E.S. program (Cooperation, Assertiveness, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control) is in full swing! This week’s focus was on Empathy. Students discussed it in Morning Meetings, and administrators reinforced the theme during house meetings. Together, we are learning how to recognize, appreciate, and understand others’ perspectives and emotions—key skills for building a caring, positive learning environment. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home.
Please see below for important information!

Congratulations to the following classes for earning the Golden Bear!
Mrs. Mila’s Advisory: These students come in every morning with a smile on their face, show cooperation with soft start activities, and all aspects of CARES during morning meetings. These students are constantly lifting others up including the wonderful custodial staff. These students have shown that even when things go wrong, the best thing we can do is work together, have empathy and understanding, and best of all - laugh. These students are truly amazing and Mrs. Mila is so lucky to have them brighten her day, everyday!
Mrs. McCall’s Red Math Class: This class deserves recognition for their hard work. This class shows responsibility and completes their classwork and homework on time. They are respectful and polite when working quietly. They show assertiveness by asking for help when needed. This amazing class shows up every day with a positive mindset! I am so proud of their hard work. Keep it up!
