Hello Gilbert H. Hood Families,
On behalf of the GHH staff, I would like to lift up the PTSA for the amazing Staff Appreciation Week celebrated this past week. We are so grateful for the thoughtful and creative events provided each day. A special, heartfelt thank you to all the families who contributed!
Here are a couple items to share for the upcoming weeks:
8th-Grade Yard Signs
The GHHMS PTSA is selling 8th-grade yard signs to help spread school spirit and celebrate their upcoming promotion. You can purchase one for your child and/or donate a sign to another student. Order now.
GHH Book Fair - May 12-16
The Gilbert H. Hood Middle School Library will be hosting a Buy One Get One Bonus Book Fair during the week of May 12. What a great way to stock up on some good books!
NH PTA Reflections Exhibit
You are invited to attend the NH PTA Reflections Exhibit on Wednesday, May 21, at Gilbert H. Hood MIddle School. The exhibit viewing is scheduled 5:30 to 6:15 pm, with award presentations 6:15-7:30. This year’s theme was “Accepting Imperfection”. Come and support some amazingly creative and talented students.
Grade 8 End-of-Year Events (link to flyer)
For families of eighth grade students, please refer to the attached flyer. This flyer outlines events planned to celebrate the end of the school year as our eighth graders prepare to move on to high school. Please mark your calendars and look for updates with additional information through ParentSquare. In addition, we will need your help. The success of these events depends on the support and contributions from families. In future messages we will share opportunities you can help, including volunteering or donating items. Thank you in advance.
Dress Code for Promotion
As eighth grade students prepare for promotion, some have asked for clarification of the dress code for the dance and the promotion ceremony. In general, students need to follow the school dress code. Students should also think carefully about their shoe choices. The promotion ceremony includes quite a bit of walking, as well as ramps to and from the staging area. Please consider safety and practicality when choosing the right shoes. Some students have specifically asked about straps for dresses. Dresses need to include straps, which could be spaghetti-strap style. If students have further questions, we encourage them to ask a teacher or administrator ahead of time. (Showing a picture is helpful for these discussions.)
After School Enrichment Program
SPACES ARE AVAILABLE! The Gilbert H. Hood Middle School Afterschool Enrichment program is a FREE program that runs until May 29, 2025 every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 2 to 5:30 pm.
