Hello Gilbert H. Hood Families,
I would like to take a moment to lift up our GHH coaches and athletes. In the past week, I have received multiple emails from staff members from other schools commending our school for good sportsmanship and kindness to others. I am so grateful of the positive way our athletic teams represent Gilbert H. Hood Middle School. Well done!
Here are a couple items to share for the upcoming weeks:
Music Concerts
Our Band and Chorus students will be performing their Spring concerts this week:
-
Chorus Concert: Monday, May 19, 6:00 pm
-
Band Concert: Tuesday, May 20, 6:00 pm
Music students will also perform music assemblies for all our students on Monday, May 19.
Opportunities to Support the Music Department
At the beginning of each nightly concert this week, the Chorus and Band will be hosting a bake sale. Please consider donating a baked good, preferably individually wrapped. Here is the link to the sign-up genius. In addition to the bake sale, there will be a 50/50 Raffle, and the PTSA will be selling merchandise . Don’t miss your chance to support our students and take home some great items!
NH PTA Reflections Exhibit
You are invited to attend the NH PTA Reflections Exhibit on Wednesday, May 21, at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School. The exhibit viewing is scheduled 5:30 to 6:15 pm, with award presentations 6:15-7:30. This year’s theme was “Accepting Imperfection”. Come and support some amazingly creative and talented students.

Dress Code for Promotion
As eighth grade students prepare for promotion, some have asked for clarification of the dress code for the dance and the promotion ceremony. In general, students need to follow the school dress code. Students should also think carefully about their shoe choices. The promotion ceremony includes quite a bit of walking, as well as ramps to and from the staging area. Please consider safety and practicality when choosing the right shoes. Some students have specifically asked about straps for dresses. Dresses need to include straps, which could be spaghetti-strap style. If students have further questions, we encourage them to ask a teacher or administrator ahead of time. (Showing a picture is helpful for these discussions.)
Pinkerton Academy Open House
Pinkerton Academy is inviting eighth grade students and their families to a Spring Open House on Thursday, May 29. Visit the campus before summer kicks off and get a feel for life as an Astro. This special evening is designed for incoming and prospective students and families to explore, connect, and get excited for the year ahead. The evening begins with mingling and optional self-guided tours starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion at 6:00 p.m. in the Academy Building. Register Today! When you register, you will receive a confirmation email with additional information.
Pinkerton CTE Summer Camp
Career and Technical Education at Pinkerton is running several summer camps the week of June 23-26. The program is open to students in grades 7-10 who are interested in participating in fun, hands on camps. Additional information can be found here: link
