Hello Gilbert H. Hood Families,
We had a successful first week of school. The energy around the building has been positive and engaging. We’ve launched our school-wide message encouraging students to “Be Husky Strong". The goals to Be Husky Strong are to "Work Hard, Make Good Choices, and Be Kind”. Working towards these goals will help us build and maintain a strong, positive school community. Working together, we can do amazing things.
Here is some important information and reminders for the upcoming weeks:

Additional Important Information
-
Cell Phone and Device Use
-
Students may not use personal devices—such as cell phones, smartwatches, or gaming devices—during the school day. This includes lunch and other non-classroom times.
-
Devices must remain off and stored away throughout the day.
-
If students need to contact their parent/guardian during the school day, they should ask to use a school-based phone in the classroom or office. If a parent/guardian needs to get an urgent message to their child, they should call the school office.
-
A new state law was signed by Governor Kelly Ayotte that sets strict limits on student cell phone use during school hours. For a quick overview of how this law affects students and families, please take a moment to watch this short video.

Vape Detectors
-
Across the country, vaping has become a growing concern among middle and high school students.
-
In a proactive effort to address this national concern, GHH has installed vape detectors in the bathrooms. These devices tie in with our existing security system and send instant notifications to school administrators about potential vaping in the bathrooms.
-
This tool will be an important part of a comprehensive system of intervention and support for students who engage in risk-related behaviors.
