Hello Gilbert H. Hood Families,
Another great week at GHH last week. Routines and expectations are settling in. Learning activities are in full swing. The upcoming week, which is our first full week of school, is looking quite busy as well! The Fall NWEA assessments begin the week, we are hosting our Fall Open House on Thursday, and Picture Day ends the week on Friday. Through it all, we will work together as a school community to Be Husky Strong–Work Hard, Make Good Choices, and Be Kind. Working together, we can do amazing things.
Here is some important information and reminders for the upcoming weeks:
Fall NWEA Testing (9/8, 9/9, 9/15, 9/16)
The Fall NWEA testing window begins on Monday, September 8. The Reading assessment will be administered on 9/8 and 9/9, while the Math assessment will be administered on 9/15 and 9/16. Assessments will be taken in the morning, immediately following Morning Meeting. Please be sure that students arrive to school on time to avoid having to makeup the tests on another day. Students need to bring their Chromebooks to school fully-charged for testing.
Fall Open House for Families-9/11
Our traditional Fall Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 11. This will be a good time for you to stop by, meet your child’s teachers and see their classrooms. The schedule for the night is provided below. Please pay attention to the times indicated for each grade level. Doing so will help other families find parking when it’s their scheduled time. We look forward to seeing you.

Cell Phone and Device Use
-
Students may not use personal devices—such as cell phones, smartwatches, or gaming devices—during the school day. This includes lunch and other non-classroom times.
-
Devices must remain off and stored away throughout the day.
-
If students need to contact their parent/guardian during the school day, they should ask to use a school-based phone in the classroom or office. If a parent/guardian needs to get an urgent message to their child, they should call the school office.
-
A new state law was signed by Governor Kelly Ayotte that sets strict limits on student cell phone use during school hours. For a quick overview of how this law affects students and families, please take a moment to watch this short video.
