Facilities Capital Improvements Bond Updates

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Derry voters approved a $24.6 million bond to fund critical capital improvements across all schools in the District. This investment reflects our community’s commitment to providing safe and energy-efficient learning environments for our students and staff.

Projects supported by this bond include:

Door Replacement

Exterior door replacements at Gilbert H. Hood and East Derry are needed due to wear and damage and to improve security, insulation, and functionality. Additionally, both interior and exterior doors at Grinnell, Barka, and West Running Brook require replacement to address deteriorating conditions, improve safety, and enhance energy efficiency. Budgeted amount: $1,166,000

Window Replacement

Window replacement at Gilbert H. Hood, South Range, and Grinnell is necessary due to damaged, aging windows that compromise energy efficiency, security, and comfort. Budgeted amount: $3,333,000

Roof Replacement

The roofs at South Range, Grinnell, East Derry, and Gilbert H. Hood schools require replacement due to age-related deterioration and damage from weather exposure, which has compromised their integrity. This replacement is essential to prevent leaks, water damage, and ensure a safe and functional environment for students and staff. Budgeted amount: $3,815,000

Chimney Repair

Chimney investigation and repair at Grinnell is required to address structural damage and ensure proper operation, safety, and prevent potential hazards. Budgeted amount: $44,000

Drain Replacement

During the roofing replacement at West Running Brook, investigation was performed into the existing roof drain system. It was determined that the roof drains need to be replaced to prevent water damage, protect building integrity, and ensure proper drainage. Budgeted amount: $288,650

Brick Facade Replacement

The original brick façade installed in the late 1960s at South Range School is separating from the CMU behind it and requires replacement. Budgeted amount: $3,304,000

Banding Replacement

The concrete banding at West Running Brook requires replacement due to cracking, delamination, spalling, displacement, bowing, and failed mortar joints. Budgeted amount: $2,589,616

HVAC Replacement
